Based on a mural painting of a bosatsu sitting with one leg pendant from Hōryū-ji Temple’s main hall that was destroyed in a fire, this image has been entitled Lotus Miroku. Resurrected as a tapestry, the threads of devotion for Kannon and Miroku, who have been complexly interconnected as Buddhism was transmitted from India to Japan, are brought together in this piece.
