Our Sandwiches

Wouldn’t you like to try our sandwiches with eggs, potato, cheese, or vegetables? MIHO MUSEUM’s Café Pine View just came out with a cute little sandwich set, which is surprisingly filling. The secret behind this lies in some of its ingredients.

First, we will introduce our popular sandwich set with ancient rice. See the white cocotte dish in the center of the photo at the top? That’s the ancient rice salad inside. Put some on the bread and take a bite. The flavorful sensation of the rice grains with vegetables is irresistible! The taste of each of the lightly sautéed vegetables—the carrots, cucumbers, green beans, onions, and shiitake mushrooms—bursts out even though they are finely chopped. The dressing that harmonizes all these flavors is also perfect. We use mayonnaise made with the finest grated onions, sugar, salt, lemon juice, vinegar, different oils, and eggs from chicken that have been raised on all natural quality feed. The ingredients change daily depending on our selection of the freshest vegetables that day. The flavor of natural vegetables endlessly changes depending on season and region; when all these ingredients perfectly harmonize, they transform into a rich dish that invites an exceptional appetite.

Incidentally, ancient rice is a product that was discovered in an excavation. The ancient sprouts dating back to over a thousand years ago were successfully germinated and are today widely cultivated. Café Pine View uses a flavorful unpolished ancient rice that was cultivated without agricultural chemicals and chemical fertilizers. We hope you enjoy the amazing taste and texture of our rice and bread.

Next, try our egg sandwich. The savory flavor of boiled eggs together with mayonnaise spreads through your mouth. The salty bread gently wrapped around the egg salad adds to this taste sensation that makes you almost want to eat the whole sandwich in a single bite.

Then there is our potato sandwich, which has small pieces of potato that melt in your mouth. The sweetness of sautéed onions and carrots added to the slightly tart flavor of mayonnaise with seasonal vegetables, such as cucumber, corn, and green beans, bring variety to this dish. Potatoes also have an infinite variety of flavors and textures—soft, crunchy, sweet, and light. The preparation of a potato for a meal is always a new encounter.

We heard that potato sandwiches are not very popular with some people, so we have created a bulgur wheat sandwich, which can be ordered in place of the potato sandwich. Our bulgur wheat sandwich is made of ground wheat, which was steamed, dried, soaked in warm water, mixed with chopped vegetables, made into a patty, and baked. This is then placed between two slices of bread with ketchup and lettuce, resulting in a hearty sandwich. Depending on our stock, our café also serves cream cheese sandwiches at times. Our cheese is also made of milk from cows that have been raised on 100% natural feed. Seasonal fruits are added to this, creating a delicious sweet-like treat that is especially popular among women.

Finally, our pickles punctuate the entire set. Our pickle maker have put special care in preparing these pickles, which are made of chemical and fertilizer-free cucumbers and carrots that have been harvested in their best season. His wife always does the pickling in sweet vinegar. They mysteriously taste different if someone else does it. The flavor of food is really mysterious in this way.

Try this amazing sandwich set, which is made daily with the freshest ingredients under the personal care of many people. Oh, and don’t forget to eat the watercress. It too is out of this world!
